A major political controversy has erupted in Tamil Nadu after DMK mouthpiece Murasoli criticized Chief Minister Vijay over actor Trisha’s presence at the 80th Independence Day celebrations at Chennai’s Fort St. George. Trisha was seated in the front row alongside Vijay’s parents and exchanged salutes with him during the ceremony. Murasoli called her presence questionable, disrespectful, and brazen, questioning why an actor sat among VIPs at an official national event. The publication claimed Vijay showed no hesitation and that voters are regretting their decision. Actor Trisha has repeatedly been pulled into political attacks by various party leaders, including BJP leader Nainar Nagendran and AIADMK leader Udhaya Kumar. Former BJP leader K Annamalai strongly defended Vijay and Trisha at the India Today Tamil Nadu Roundtable, stating there is no place for personal and derogatory remarks against women and calling out politicians for bullying and seeking publicity.
