India’s first fully indigenous AK-203 assault rifle, named ‘Shair’, has been test-fired at the Korwa facility in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh. The Indo-Russian joint venture is manufacturing the rifle locally, with armed forces trials expected in September. Around six lakh rifles are targeted for delivery by December 2030.
