Nepal has issued a fresh warning over the risk of another flash flood after water levels rose at a lake formed by avalanches near the country’s border with Tibet. The alert came on Friday as the death toll from the flood-related devastation climbed to 552, with search and rescue operations continuing for a third day and nearly 1,500 people still missing. As Nepal grapples with the aftermath of the devastating flood that killed hundreds, it now faces a fresh flooding threat following the breach of “a significant barrier lake” that formed on the Tibetan side. On Friday, a post by Nepal Police in Nepali warned that a “water barrier/dam” on the Tibetan side had breached.
