Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a major push for long-term uranium cooperation with Uzbekistan during his bilateral talks with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Tashkent. PM Modi said both countries will work towards establishing a long-term arrangement for the supply of uranium, as India looks to diversify and strengthen its nuclear fuel supplies.
PM Modi also thanked President Mirziyoyev for the warm welcome, hospitality, delicious food and cultural performances during his visit. Addressing him as his “brother,” PM Modi highlighted the growing momentum in India-Uzbekistan relations and the strong people-to-people and civilizational ties between the two countries.
The two sides also discussed a business summit, trade and investment, sister city and sister state arrangements, technology, infrastructure and strategic cooperation. PM Modi highlighted India’s GIFT City in Gujarat and invited an Uzbek delegation to study its best practices and technology.
