Heavy rain has triggered flood-like conditions across Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand. In Uttarakhand, landslides, swollen rivers and blocked roads have disrupted normal life. In Nainital, strong currents swept away funeral pyres, while separate incidents in Pauri and Almora resulted in multiple deaths. Bageshwar and Rudraprayag have also been affected by heavy rainfall. In Uttar Pradesh, rising water levels in the Ganga and Mandakini rivers have created serious problems in Varanasi, Ballia, Chitrakoot and other areas.
