Former Indian Air Force Group Captain and Vir Chakra awardee Abhinandan Varthaman has started a new chapter in his career. After serving in the Indian Air Force for around 22 years, Abhinandan has taken premature retirement and joined Goa-based regional airline FLY91 as a pilot, according to sources. Abhinandan became a household name in 2019 after the Balakot air strikes and the aerial combat with Pakistan. His MiG-21 was hit during the encounter and he ejected over Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, where he was captured. He returned to India three days later and was awarded the Vir Chakra in 2021.
