The gesture drew criticism from the DMK, CPM and other political voices, with allegations that it mocked former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s experience during his Emergency-era arrest. Vijay has now said that his body language was inadvertent and was not intended to hurt anyone’s feelings, asking that it not be interpreted as a personal attack. The clarification comes after intense political criticism over the past 24 hours.
