According to the BJP, this act constitutes a direct violation of Section 16 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, and Article 326 of the Constitution, which clearly stipulate that the right to vote in India belongs solely to Indian citizens. The BJP described this alleged act as an attempt at document forgery and stated that if a non-citizen is included in the electoral roll, the concerned official could also face action.
