Heavy rain has caused widespread damage across Uttar Pradesh, with at least 56 people reported dead and 46 injured. The state has also reported 107 livestock deaths and damage to 1,021 houses, while crop-loss assessment is still underway. As many as 63 districts recorded above-normal rainfall, with some areas facing a risk of flash floods. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav has criticised the government over waterlogging and alleged that poor drainage and corruption are responsible for the situation.
