CJP spokesperson Sourav Das addressed a recent press conference, raising questions over changes made to the voter registration declaration form following a Supreme Court judgment. Das said the Supreme Court has not endorsed the current changes introduced in Form 6 and argued that the Election Commission of India’s residual powers cannot be used to prevent young citizens from becoming voters.
He further alleged that the ECI is compromised and claimed that efforts to restrict new voters could prevent young people from participating in the electoral process and bringing change to what he described as a “corrupt and broken system.”
