18वें ब्रिक्स शिखर सम्मेलन के समापन के बाद विदेशी मेहमानों के लिए आयोजित भव्य गाला डिनर के मेन्यू को लेकर देश में नया सियासी घमासान छिड़ गया है। लोकसभा में नेता प्रतिपक्ष राहुल गांधी द्वारा 80 फीसदी भारतीयों के मांसाहारी होने और भारतीय नॉन-वेज व्यंजनों की तारीफ वाला सोशल मीडिया पोस्ट किए जाने के बाद कांग्रेस ने मोदी सरकार पर अपनी पसंद का शाकाहारी मेन्यू थोपने का आरोप लगाया है। वहीं दूसरी ओर, केंद्रीय मंत्रियों और बीजेपी नेताओं ने पलटवार करते हुए इसे भारतीय परंपरा, सात्विक आहार और ‘श्री अन्न’ (मोटे अनाज) के जरिए देश की सांस्कृतिक विविधता को प्रदर्शित करने का प्रयास बताया है। बीजेपी ने कांग्रेस पर अंतरराष्ट्रीय राजनयिक कार्यक्रमों पर भी ओछी राजनीति करने का आरोप लगाया है, जिससे यह विवाद सात्विक आहार बनाम खान-पान की विविधता की बहस में बदल गया है।
