A ship was set ablaze early Thursday after being attacked off the coast of the UAE near Khor Fakkan, close to the Strait of Hormuz. The British military’s United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Centre reported that the vessel was hit by an unknown projectile, resulting in a fire on board. The Strait of Hormuz is a critical waterway through which 20% of the world’s oil and natural gas typically flows. Over 20 vessels have been attacked during the Iran conflict so far, as Tehran attempts to pressure shippers as part of its campaign over the ongoing conflict. Visuals show crew members on board and the condition they were in after the ship went up in flames. Authorities are awaiting more details about the vessel and the circumstances of the attack.
