A conflict is escalating between the Election Commission of India and the Congress party, led by Rahul Gandhi. The focus has shifted from electronic voting machines to allegations of manipulated voter lists. Rahul Gandhi states he has suspected issues since 2014, saying, “I had a suspicion that there’s something wrong, something does not add up.” He now claims to have proof of electoral malpractice, citing an instance in a Lok Sabha constituency where around 6.5 lakh voters were allegedly added and 1.5 lakh deleted. The matter has reached the Supreme Court. This issue, particularly the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls in Bihar, is uniting opposition parties like the TMC and Aam Aadmi Party, who are protesting what they call an attempt to give an undue advantage to the BJP.
