A scuffle between a passenger and an Air India Express pilot at Delhi’s IGI Airport has taken a new turn, with the airline issuing a statement defending the pilot. The incident, which occurred on December 19 at Terminal 1, was initially flagged after SpiceJet passenger Ankit Dewan alleged assault by the pilot. However, Air India Express said the pilot, Captain Virendra Sejwal, was travelling as a passenger and was subjected to casteist abuse and serious threats to his family, including a child. The airline called social media narratives misleading, stating the matter was personal and already resolved with CISF intervention. The Civil Aviation Ministry has ordered a formal probe.
