The Government of India has issued a fresh advisory to social media platforms on adult and sex-related content. Platforms have been directed to proactively remove obscene, pornographic, and sexually explicit material under IT Rules, 2021. Large platforms must use automated tools and human moderation, or risk losing safe harbour protection and facing legal action.
