Bloomberg claims Reliance is importing Russian crude oil via tankers headed to Jamnagar. Reliance has strongly denied this, calling the report “blatantly untrue” and damaging to its image. While this goes on, Donald Trump in the US has warned of higher tariffs if India keeps buying Russian oil.He says it’s unfair trade- linking tariffs to India’s energy deals with Moscow.
India’s Russian oil imports did fall in December but may recover soon, analysts suggest.
Nearly 30% of India’s total crude still comes from Russia despite Western pressure.
Experts say India’s ambiguous position on Russian oil needs more clarity.
