दौरा सफलतापूर्वक संपन्न करने के बाद जब वे वापसी के लिए एयरपोर्ट पहुँचे, तो विमान के सामने रेड कारपेट बिछा हुआ था। गाड़ी से उतरकर वे कुछ देर अधिकारियों से बातचीत करते रहे। उनकी पत्नी भी पूरे समय उनके साथ रहीं। भारतीय अधिकारी उन्हें विदा करने के लिए मौजूद थे। मैक्रो और उनकी पत्नी रेड कारपेट पर आगे बढ़ ही रहे थे कि अचानक कुछ ऐसा हुआ जिसने सबका ध्यान खींच लिया। चलते-चलते मैक्रो अचानक मुड़ गए। उन्होंने रेड कारपेट छोड़ दिया और अफसरों की तरफ बढ़ गए जो वहां कुछ दूरी पर खड़े थे…प्रोटोकॉल तोड़ते राष्ट्रपति ने आत्मीयता से एक अफसर के कंधे पर हाथ रखकर तस्वीर खिंचवाई, दृश्य बेहद खास था।

He turned and asked them to take a photo with him, and posed with them. As he left, he wished everyone well and thanked them. He then returned to the red carpet, where Indian officials were waiting to bid him a formal farewell. After greeting everyone with folded hands and expressing his gratitude, he began climbing the stairs to the plane. At the door, he turned back and waved once again, thanking India, and ending his trip with a memorable moment.
