Two explosions reported in Punjab on the night of May 5 have raised serious security concerns. The first blast took place near the BSF headquarters in Jalandhar, where an IED-like device is suspected to have been used. Police are investigating CCTV footage showing a suspect placing a packet near a parked Activa before fleeing the spot. No casualties were reported.
A few hours later, another blast was reported outside the Army camp in Khasa, Amritsar, where two masked bike-borne men allegedly threw a grenade towards the camp. The grenade hit a wall and exploded, damaging part of the boundary area, though no injuries were reported.
Following both incidents, security agencies have been put on alert. Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav visited the site, while political reactions also followed. Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann targeted the BJP over the blasts, after which BJP leaders Sambit Patra and Ashwani Sharma hit back. Police and security agencies are now investigating who was behind the attacks and what their motive was.
