Former Tamil Nadu BJP president K. Annamalai has officially resigned from the party to launch a new political movement titled ‘We the Leaders’. The former IPS officer cited disagreements with national leadership over regional alliances and linguistic priorities as reasons for his departure. The movement, which positions itself as an alternative to traditional Dravidian parties, focuses on youth engagement and grassroots political education to contest the 2031 state assembly elections. Simultaneously, Lata Rajinikanth has introduced ‘Makkal Medai’, a citizens’ platform designed to facilitate public participation in local governance. In Karnataka, the newly formed Congress government under Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar faces an internal crisis following the resignation of senior leader Ramalinga Reddy. Reddy stepped down from the cabinet due to dissatisfaction with his irrigation portfolio allocation, while Minister K.H. Muniyappa also expressed grievances. Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the developments, characterizing the leadership transition from Siddaramaiah to Shivakumar as a source of public resentment and political uncertainty within the state.
