A shocking case from Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh, has raised questions over how patient records are updated under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Police constable Dev Narayan Ram died on June 30, and his family had already performed his last rites and received his death certificate. Yet, 42 days later, a WhatsApp message linked to PM-JAY was sent to his phone, saying he was recovering and going home. His family questioned how the record remained active. The hospital admitted that the patient’s record was not closed on time due to a delay by the data entry operator. However, it denied making any extra Ayushman claim after his death.
