On the night of 3 October, TMC MLAs and MPs were protesting outside Krishi Bhawan in Delhi demanding release of MNREGA funds for West Bengal. At midnight the police tried to chase them away. After protesting, many leaders including Abhishek Banerjee and Mahua Moitra were detained by the police and released.
The Central Government has withheld the MNREGA funds of the Bengal Government for the last two years. People working under MNREGA demonstrated several times in Bengal to stop this fund. After this, under the leadership of Abhishek Banerjee, about two and a half thousand people associated with MNREGA came to Delhi. These people protested at Jantar Mantar on 2 and 3 October. And on October 3, this uproar took place during the meeting with Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti.
