A tribal farmer died in Chhattisgarh’s Balrampur district after an alleged assault during an investigation into illegal bauxite mining. Police said Kusmi SDM Karun Dahariya and three others were arrested in connection with the incident. The incident reportedly took place in Hanspur village late at night when officials reached the area to probe suspected illegal mining.
Three villagers were injured in the assault, and 62-year-old Ramnaresh Ram later died during treatment. Two others are still receiving medical care. Police have registered a case and started an investigation into the incident.
