Vijay claimed that Tamil Nadu is under nearly ₹10 lakh crore debt, prompting a sharp response from former CM M. K. Stalin, who defended the previous DMK government and questioned Vijay’s statements.
Despite being new to active politics, Vijay formed the government with the support of Congress, CPI, CPI(M), VCK, and IUML. His rise once again highlights the deep connection between Tamil cinema and politics, following leaders like M.G. Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa.
