The sudden death of thirty-three-year-old Twisha Sharma in Bhopal, just five months after her marriage to advocate Samarth Singh, has led to protests. Her family, originally from Noida, has levelled serious allegations of domestic violence, mental harassment, and a forced abortion against her husband and mother-in-law, retired judge Giribala Singh. While police have registered a case of unnatural death, Twisha’s family claims the investigation is compromised due to the in-laws’ influence. Protesting outside the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister’s residence, the family met with the Chief Minister’s Officer on Special Duty. They are demanding a second postmortem at AIIMS Delhi, preservation of her body at a lower temperature, and the transfer of the case to Delhi. The family has also presented WhatsApp and Instagram chats as evidence, where Twisha reportedly stated, ‘I am trapped’ and advised a friend, ‘You don’t marry’. Discrepancies in the initial postmortem report regarding her height and physical bruises have further fueled the family’s demand for a fair probe.
