US President Donald Trump has said that India and the United States are close to finalising a trade deal, describing Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “good friend” and expressing confidence in the strong relationship between the two countries. Speaking about ongoing trade negotiations, Trump claimed that India had imposed high tariffs on American goods for years, but said the situation is now changing as both sides work towards a new agreement.
