The US launched a wave of strikes hitting civilian infrastructure, including bridges, a train station and an airport. Reports claim Iran has asked Yemen’s Houthi movement to stand ready to close the Red Sea oil route if its power infrastructure is attacked. The Bab el-Mandeb Strait is a critical maritime chokepoint linking the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean. Any disruption there could threaten a major share of global trade and energy shipments, significantly raising risks for international supply chains and oil markets and could also have adverse impact on India.
