The deaths of tribal children in Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh, have raised serious questions about the healthcare system. Around 24 children have reportedly died in the past two months. An ICMR investigation and other health reports have identified malaria and measles as major causes. Local residents allege that several children did not receive vaccines on time. Around 134 children are reportedly still sick, suffering from fever, malaria, measles, diarrhoea and other illnesses. The death toll is also disputed, with different figures being cited by officials and protesters. Protesters have announced a Balaghat bandh on September 3, demanding compensation and action against officials.
