US President Donald Trump has opened the door to talks with Iran while also issuing a strong warning. On September 22, US and Iranian officials held a nearly three-hour meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. Trump said his envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met Iranian officials, while US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Trump is willing to meet Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. At the same time, Trump warned of serious consequences if no agreement is reached. Iran has said it remains open to diplomacy aimed at achieving lasting security and stability.
