The controversy over the Election Commission and Special Intensive Revision (SIR) has now reached the Bombay High Court. On September 24, two separate writ petitions were filed challenging aspects of the SIR process in Maharashtra.
The petitioners have sought restoration of voters whose names were deleted during SIR and have questioned several decisions and procedures related to electoral rolls. One petition also seeks an independent judicial committee to examine alleged data deletions and software-related issues during the SIR process.
