Heavy rainfall in Nepal is now impacting parts of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, with rising water levels in the Gandak, Narayani and Saryu rivers. Flood pressure has increased in several areas, with embankment breaches reported in parts of West and East Champaran in Bihar and Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh.
In Nepal, heavy rain and landslides between September 24 and 28 have reportedly killed at least 27 people, with several others injured or missing. The latest rainfall comes just weeks after devastating floods in Nepal that caused widespread destruction.
